TIDC Performing Arts Studio takes pleasure in offering SACE Stage 1 and 2 Dance to students who do not have the opportunity to study these subjects in their own schools.
Both Stage 1 & 2 dance students work independently alongside each other. Classes will be conducted at our Port Road Studio on Saturdays from 2-5pm.
Students cover dance theory topics, Performance, Technique, and Choreography. SACE Dance at TIDC is a stand-alone course and students from any dance studio, calisthenics or gymnastics club are welcome to enroll.
Frequently asked questions:
How old does my child need to be? The preferred target age are students who would be in year 10 at school in 2018. It is encouraged that they work one year ahead of their usual school year level as it gives them an opportunity to do one less subject when they are in Year 12 or an opportunity to take up a different subject should they wish to maximise their ATAR score (Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank).
How much will it cost?
$450 per term for Year 11 and $500 per term for Year 12
How do we know if it will run at TIDC in 2018? We need a minimum of 6 students to make it viable.
Which studio/days/times will it be held? Port Road Studio – 593 Port Road West Croydon, Saturdays 2-5pm, during the school term.
What do I tell the school my child attends? You just need to notify the school’s SACE Coordinator that they are studying the course so they are aware of it. TIDC will cover all of the SACE administrative work so that Dance will be recorded on their SACE Certificate.
What styles are offered? For the Performance component, students can perform in a variety of dance genres and most commonly include Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary and Tap. For Technique, we offer Jazz and Tap as the main genre covered but can accommodate students who excel in Classical Ballet and Contemporary.
Will my child miss any of their usual school days due to their involvement in this course? Often workshop and viewing performance opportunities arise that are too good to miss so it is recommend students take these opportunities but they are not compulsory. It will however be compulsory that students miss one day of school to rehearse for their performance that is worth 30% of their overall grade.
